Challenge

Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS), one of Minnesota's largest school districts serving 35,715 students, recognized the need to prepare their students for the growing demand for skills in the field of Augmented Reality (AR).

The school district sought out an organization that could provide a comprehensive XR program to teach students how to build AR applications using top industry game development platforms.

Solution

XR Terra partnered with SPPS to develop the High School Developer Program. This multi-week course met for 2 hours per day and taught students how to build an AR application using a top industry game development platform.

The program offered hands-on instruction and mentorship, providing students with the necessary skills to develop a working portfolio prototype. Upon completion of the program, students were able to present their applications and discuss their experience.

Outcome

The SPPS/XR TERRA High School Developer Program has been successful in preparing SPPS students for the growing demand for skills in AR technology. The program has provided students with hands-on instruction and mentorship, empowering them with the necessary skills to develop a working portfolio prototype.

The program has allowed students to gain practical experience with top industry game development platforms, giving them a competitive advantage in the job market. The success of this program has encouraged SPPS to continue to provide opportunities for their students to gain practical experience with emerging technologies.
